Flying Potato Salad, Exhausted Squirrel and Rump Rot Part Deux

The Lilac Thicket has gone all patriotic!  Of course the squirrel in the bird bath is taking a nap so that is why she is slumped over.  She probably is exhausted from hunting nuts all day for her family only to come home and be expected to cook and serve her unemployed spouse.  I'll bet her rodent spouse walks into the nest after she has sat down with a plate full of toasty acorns and sits his very self down and asks her if she fixed him a plate.  I bet that is exactly why she is so tired.
I noticed how the Professor's coleus are really growing except for the the 2 that kept getting dug up by the unemployed squirrel spouse because he has nothing better to do then be annoying.  And we also see a close up of the exhausted female bringing home the acorn, serving it up in a pan and never letting husband rodent forget that he's a man!
I love the American flag and on a windy summer day it looks beautiful against a blue sky.  I was on my way home from taking the Professor to church on Saturday and snapped the pic from inside the car.  It is actually harder to do then I thought.
Saturday I did hit the Farmer's Market.  It was packed and there was a traffic jam, getting into and out of the church parking lot.
I got some hail damaged peaches for $4 which I pared up and put in the frig for cobbler for some yummy future treat.  Then my wonderful Cinnamon Peach Jam made by Rita, it was $5 and then a wonderful yellow onion and a cucumber which were a buck for the two.  The yellow onion went into my potato salad and it was terrific.
Rump Rot Rose was break dancing as her hiney was better on Saturday.  Tuesday morning I woke up and stepped in a nice pile of  puppy pooh, yes diarrhea had started and we ended up taking her back to the vet on Wednesday morning and we spent another $100.  She is now on a bland diet, a mix of cottage cheese, rice and ground beef, dang dog is eating better then the Professor and I.  I also have to prepare her pills in the morning for the day.  She is on 2 antibiotics, one steroid and her arthritis medication.  Not to mention her twice daily butt hose downs and a baby shampoo butt wash.  Oh my life is good for the pup with Rump Rot.
I just think my Professor looks so handsome coming out of church with his dress clothes.  I had to share.  We went home and grilled chicken and steak and corn on the cob.  I made potato salad too.  Although when I told the Professor I was making potato salad he asked if I had called to get my sister-in-law's recipe.  Well, let's just say, he is lucky he didn't have to break his Sabbath and clean potato salad off the walls.  My gentle readers, I understand I am not a gourmet cook, but I do know how to make a few things quite well and potato salad is one of them.

We are getting AT&T U-Verse installed today.  It is so much cheaper having it bundled with the phone and Internet.  We will be saving $60 a month!  Now the Professor will not have to endure my Ghost Hunters or Haunted Collector or Ghost Hunters International and get "creeped out".  He can go into the bedroom and watch some other program.  We will be able to record 3 programs at one time and I can request via the web for the device to record.  I can't wait to get home and veg in front of the TV.

There hasn't been a drop of stitching in the wilds of the Lilac Thicket.  However I have begun shovelling out the computer room which is a good thing.  Boy I found lots of stash, stash I had forgotten about.  The Professor offered to help as he tripped over things and knocked piles of stuff over and this hard working female squirrel, I mean I declined his offer.  May your acorns be plentiful and your Thickets blessed.

The almost accidental death of a back seat driving Professor!

The newlyweds have been busy and not the kind of busy my naughty co-workers have implied but business of personal business.  This hecticness has included the unfortunate activity of driving freeways and navigating large downtown city roads.  The thoroughfares are just cluttered with people who do NOT know how to drive, and present company is NOT included.  But my li'l Honda has also been crowded with a know-it-all spouse who has not navigated a single road in this city or suburb and has no skills driving a 5 speed.   "Didn't you see the pot hole?"..."Of course I saw it, I just had an urge to break my axle!"  Gentle readers, this dear and darling wife almost became a widow and a murderer all in one incident!  Yes all of the shows I have watched over the years on Investigation Discovery they certainly would have hit pay dirt for me in covering up the homicide of my Caribbean Prince, the Professor!  Thankfully our adventures came to an end today as we finished our business and soon I will forget the ugliness of dealing with a back seat driver Professor, only in the front seat!  Yes indeed the Professor lives again for another day when he can annoyingly tell me again what a good driver his ex-wife was.
I love this design which is offered by The Sunflower Seed.  What a great anniversary piece, the Professor and I have been married 2 weeks today...ya think I should get it!
I love these happy and cheerful Whimsical Words from Stoney Creek, which is wonderfully timely since I have just spent the last 10 minutes getting my posterior chewed on by someone unhappy with his insurance.
I love this Bent Creek Halloween Branch!  I love Halloween and all it's ghoulish glory!
No, at 54 years young there is no bun in the oven but I think this is a darling design.  I saw a pattern recently for a knitted pea pod bunting for a baby, what a clever idea.
Falling Star Primitives is a new designer to me but I really like their Halloween designs and this one in particular called "Caldron's Black Halloween Sampler".
This is NOT cross stitch but I saw this saying on an entry at Craft Gossip and I thought it would be a great cross stitch design.  The saying made me laugh and it is a bit irreverent, don't you think?
This is a great embroidery design and it's FREE!!!!  Please visit The Noble Wife blog to print off a copy of this wonderful summer design!  http://thenoblewife.blogspot.com/
I saw this on Craft Gossip and saved the picture because I thought this would be an easy and inspirational piece for a mantle or wall in the home.  Easy enough to figure out how to make it!
This is too clever and cute!  Two thrift shop finds, a over sized vase and a serving plate make a beautiful bird bath!  Check out this great blog: http://athomebythebaye.blogspot.com/2011/06/new-birdbath-and-garden-ornament.html

I know I write a great deal about my Professor but you know he really is a terrific man.  He had me hold his wallet while he went into an appointment.  I am not a snooper in any way shape or form, but it was 3 inches thick and I opened it and there front and center was a picture of his beautiful wife not his ex-wife!  What a great husband!

We haven't used our Aussie Grill that we bought maybe  6 weeks ago and I suggested if it didn't rain tomorrow we could pull it out.  Professor asked what we would fix, I replied, who said anything about cooking, let's just pull it out and stand around and look at it.  Why did that man marry me, I'll probably never know.
Okay pull our your elegantly embroidered handkerchiefs my kindred spirit readers.  I am going to close this missive and leave you to find your own way home from my Lilac Thicket.  But I would really love you to leave me a comment or two every now and again.  It is very nice to know that someone is reading my silly ramblings.  So God Bless Us, Everyone!

Rump Rot & the Surburban Spaniel

I am always surprised at how many people read this crazy old blog.  Yes a couple of "friends" at work suggested that since I am a newlywed that I was too busy doing other "things", hence sex, to be bothered updating my blog!  Okay, let's just go with that!

The weather has been muggy and hot, we had rain today.  It just seems like there has been lots going on here.  Sadly Rose's annual Rump Rot has visited us.  The Professor has been walking her once or twice a day and he cut down on the snacks he gives her.  I could tell she had lost weight but she still has that fat apron that hangs down over her rear end.  Professor bathed her Tuesday much to her chagrin.  The beseeching look in her eyes as I left for work was one of dismay that I would not save her from the soap suds and the hose and the Professor.  He did not see a hot spot on her butt, however that night she was horrible restless and no one in our house got any sleep.  I did a butt check and sure enough there was a big old sore spot.  We took her to the vet at 8am when they opened and 4 adults held down one 69.8 pound Britney Spaniel to shave her rear end.  It was fun.  So...I get the distinct pleasure of washing down dog butt with soap and water twice a day, in addition to spraying dog butt twice a day and also forcing prednisone down dog throat twice a day.  Oh how I love the rump rot time of year!
Princess Jujubead gave the Professor and I a lovely bling bling frame which is now adorned with a picture of yours truly and her beloved.  Hip Hop Dot brought me a lovely angel from the Precious Moments Museum and it plays music even!  I think she remembered my tale of woe when I expounded my unhappiness about an unfortunate incident involving the Professor and a cleaning frenzy which ended with the Precious Moments figurine Brother 2 gave me being smashed into powder, therefore unrepairable.  Isn't that sweet?  Hip to the Hop Dot...thank you a lot, I love angels guess that is why I love you so much.
I stole, I mean borrowed, an idea...I saw a bridal bouquet displayed in a pretty vase and thought that SO clever.  This is the bridal bouquet Hip to the Hop Dot made me....doesn't it look lovely?
Momma made me this lovely set which could hang on the wall.  Momma and Princess Jujubead are scrape booking, card making Divas.  Momma took a class at her beloved Archivers shop and she made this for me with my favorite colors, pink and pink...plus my favorite picture of me and the Prof!  I love the bling and the bling, my favorite thing!
Yes the paparazzi stocks the Professor in our Thicket.  He requested that no photos be taken and as one would expect the paparazzi did NOT respect his wishes.  Actually his ailing supervisor, Rump Rot Rose told me it was okay, she indicated his agent, also Rump Rot Rose, was not up to par and wouldn't push the privacy issue.  So you have a pic of the Professor cleaning the garage so his dear and darling wife can get the car in the garage.  Isn't he a Caribbean Prince?  I love you baby boy!
See, I told you stitching is going on in the cool folds of the Lilac Thicket!  Yes it is a free offering from Aury who happens to be in the Disciplined Diva and Serial Starter Facebook Club I am in.  I love it.  My posterior was delighted to rest in the comfort of my Happy Chair on Sunday and I stitched and stitched.  Okay, so I am a slow stitcher but it felt SO good.
More Wishlist entries....from Barbara Ana "Owl-o-ween".  Isn't it a darling design?
From Just Nan "Three Violets".  I think this is darling, I love the chickies!
Okay, I am not a Crazy Cat lady, but when I saw this I thought of a co-worker who would be that Crazy Cat Lady who has 632 kitties who spill out of the door and down the driveway and become neighborhood nuisances as they rummage thru the trash and make loud crying baby noises as they create more cats that the Crazy Cat Lady then takes in.  It is really a sad situation, isn't it Carol?!
I love, love, love this Filigram design, " Mother Hens".

Well my gentle and persistent readers, I think I will get back to the Lilac Thicket newlywed business with the Professor...we really did need to come up for air!  Until the next lull in activity...God Bless Us Everyone!

Some wedding Pics

The Professor and I arrived at the Truman Memorial Building and found Mom had beaten us there.
My sister brought a bouquet of fresh daisies and pink rose buds for me.
Trying to cool off as it was a warm beautiful day.
I love this picture of the Professor and I as we waited for Pastor Roger to get there.
My beautiful sister, Princess Juju Bead.
My wonderful and gruff Brother One.
Princess Juju Bead trying to do the Vulcan Mind Meld trick on me.

More Pics to come...I promise!

Wedding, wishlist, wonderific wants cheap!!

This was the beautiful cake was delicious.  It was champagne icing with raspberry filling between the white cake layer.
This was the pretty table setting we had at the buffet dinner my family had for us.

I did get some stitching done, very little in fact but stitching none the less.  I can't tell you what design it is yet as several of my Facebook Serial Starter and Disciplined Diva Club sisters are supposed to guess the design.
The next 5 pictures are of designs that I have added to my Stitching Wish List.
I Know God from Lizzie Kate
Merry Christmas Drop from Alessandra Adelaide Needleworks.
Live, Laugh, Love from Lizzie Kate.
Red, White and Blue Panel from Laura J. Perin.
Sweet Christmas from Alessandra Adelaide Needleworks.

The next 5 photos are of things that I couldn't live without, found at the Thrift Shop on Thursday.
When we lived in Hawaii we called them "Jap Flaps" and they were wonderful.  I haven't found these since we moved back to the mainland in 1973.  I paid a dollar for these and they have scarcely left my feet since I acquired them.
This plate caught my eye because of the PINK flowers, imagine that!  I thought it would be nice to put homemade cookies or candies on.  It was $3.50!
Sketcher's 2 bucks!

It's PINK and the inside is pristine, I don't think it was ever  used, that little moisture absorber packet was still in it.  It is a nice supple leather...are you ready?  $3.00!
I know they are PJ bottoms but I got them for the Professor to kick around the house in.  He likes elastic in the hem and that is easy enough to put in. They were $1.50!

Well my gentle readers, I really don't have a lot to say but will share more pics of the big day as I receive them from my family and my best girl, B-7!  Back to work today which does not make me tingly all over but I have a job!  God Bless Us Everyone.

Exhibits SPFAZ!

Exhibit F:  Beautiful flowers that Hip Hop Dot made for my special day.  They are in my favorite color, Pink, and my second favorite color, Pink!  So gorgeous and so generous of my adopted Big Sis, Dorothy.  Dorothy, I know you are reading this...thank you for loving me so much that you want to make my ceremony pretty.  I love you!
H²Dot also made boutonnieres and a corsage, also in my favorite colors.  And you see our wedding bands, the Professor has a big fat finger, size 12 and I have a dainty size 6 finger.  Can't wait to wear my wedding band.
Aren't they lovely all together?
Exhibit P:  Yes gentle readers a pimple!  Frightening how God's sense of humor is so well timed!
Exhibit Z:  Yes gentle readers, the zit, it is the twin of Exhibit P!  I think that God is just picking on me!  Somehow I feel I am living My Big Fat Greek Wedding, please pass the Windex!

Exhibit A:  The mysteriously leak has been identified.  Yes we did have issues with the plumbing in the kitchen of our beloved Lilac Thicket.  The ill installed garbage disposal caused water to pour out of the nasty cabinet under the sink.  And we had Randy, the jousting plumber, out 6 times, at least, because we had these mysteriously leaks appear in the middle of the night.  I know we were frustrated with cleaning it up.  Well we had the leak occur on the bathroom rug late last week when the Professor was walking Rose and I had gone up to the HyVee to get ingredients for the Crock pot Lasagna.  The mysterious leak has a name...April Mae June!  I was flabbergasted, honestly, this is a dog that would wake me up to let her out.  Well I am humbled and that is hard to do!  Not to mention all those mornings I was stepping in April leavings when I thought it was water....GROSS!!!

Exhibit S:  I found these cute little containers in the Dollar Daze bin at CVS yesterday.  I originally was thinking of my lunch bag and now my mad, mad mind is thinking STASH!  These would be so cool to use for my stitching and sewing stash.  Now I got 8 of the smallest ones in one package for $3 and 2 of the larger in a package for $1.  The Chapstick is for size comparison!

I got off work early yesterday and last evening we sat outside and Professor brushed the dogs and we watched the birds at our feeder.  We then went up to Petco and bought some Sushi for my mother's pond.  We got 15 little fishies to put in her itty bitty pond and they swam and they swam all ober da dam...ip ip bittum bottom wattum shoop!  We then stopped and got Professor 2 Red Box movies and puppy food.  Then the Chinese drive thru was hit before we got home! Oh you want to know what we got?  Sesame seed Chicken and Crab Rangoons!  I know, I know, enquiring minds need to know!

So the Professor is rather sensitive to my inability to watch his movies with him.  I fall asleep.  So karma finally bit him last night.  This morning I asked him how his movie was...I love this...HE fell asleep half way thru!

The day before my marriage I am calm, cool and collected. The day before his marriage the Professor is rummaging around in the refrigerator and bothering me by talking while I am writing.  I am going to run up to Lane Bryant's soon and find some lacy snickers to wear tomorrow.  Even if I am wearing jeans I want to have pretty snickers on and cute hair which I will be pin curling a little later!  So my gentle readers, all is well here in the Lilac Thicket!  I hope your day is wonderful and I am sure I will have some good dope to drop on the Professor after tomorrow's events!  God Bless Us Everyone!
