Stash and Sundaes
I am looking forward to the Shop Hop that starts tomorrow. It is said it will rain, we shall see, they are usually wrong. Can't wait to see all the stash I might not be able to resist.
The weather is lovely here, 81°! My lawn needs to be cut. I have called the man I hire to do it. Don't you love the smell of fresh cut grass? I do.
This was just a short note and I am sure I will have lots to report tomorrow when I get back to the Lilac Thicket. I know you are waiting on pins and needles. God Bless.

Kansas City Shop Hop
The annual Shop Hop starts Thursday and runs through Saturday. Pictured above is my favorite shop which is maybe 15 minutes from the Lilac Thicket. Kathy, Sylvia and Carolyn are THE BEST! Carolyn taught me to knit in a class I took there. Sylvia always greets me with such love, either in person or when she is calling to let me know when my special orders are in. Kathy is SO talented and has such a wonderful sense of color. The framing they do there is spectacular. They even put up with my rotten brother when he comes in once a year to purchase a gift certificate for me..."Your sister is such a dear!" "Maybe that's why I always feel like shooting her!" Yes the mighty hunter has such a fine sense of humor!
I took Friday off so I can visit C.C. & Co and the Old Mill in Liberty and Two the Point in Overland Park. I don't know if I will make it to Topeka to visit the Sunflower Seed or Manhattan to the shop whose name I can't remember. It will be fun!
I worked on the hardanger card for Mother's Day. I have everything stitched but the twisted bars are whipping me. I need to have someone show me how to do them. I think I will take it with me when I "hop" and see what help I may be able to find.
We have had more than out share of rain, more rain and even more rain. It is sad but the lilacs are now past their peak. How I hate to see them go but to everything there is a season. Maybe if we had lilacs all year long I wouldn't treasure them like I do.
I wasn't such a good girl this weekend, I ate 2 candy bars Saturday! I know it could have been worse but after 3½ months and no candy, I think I will not hang my head to low. I don't do breakfast but am starved when I get to work. I bought some of the Smart One breakfasts and that seems to help.
So I send all my best fragrant wishes from within the Lilac Thicket.

It's Friday
Success again in the weight loss category. I can now tie my shoes in the middle of the shoe because I can more easily reach my foot to do so. Plus I have been able to shave under my arms and reach all the areas to do so. It has been so long since I could do it, I just stopped shaving under my arms. Life is good.
We had rain almost all day here in the Thicket yesterday and today it was raining when I let the dogs out. It has stopped now and is just overcast. I hope we have sunshine this weekend.
Next weekend is the Cross Stitch Shop Hop. I took off Friday and look forward to the madness. I am not sure if I will drive to Topeka but I do want to hit the 3 shops in the metro area.
Rose went into the bedroom and I had to follow her to make sure she didn't get up on my clean bed with her wet paws. I noticed the sun may be trying to come out.
Well on the subject of my precious Rose, her hot spot has all cleared up. I lovingly call it her "rump rot". I try so hard to watch that area of her anatomy to keep it clean and "rot" free. It is horrible because she isn't comfortable and she has bowel problems and then I can't sleep. Well the steroid powder and antibotics did their magic. She is sleeping and eating and being her usual Rosie self.
I finished another book last night, "The Center of Everything" by Laura Moriarty. I enjoyed it, it was coarse in places but I hate the way it ended. It ended in the middle of everything which was awful.
Last weekend I read "Between Sundays" by Karen Kingsbury which is excellent and it is a Christian Romance book.
I am out of Christian books but found a paperback which I bought sometime in the past. "Born To Be Wild" by Catherine Coulter. It is a suspense type mystery. I have become a reading fanatic lately.
Well I am going to get ready for work. I need to run by the bank to get some cash. Wishing you a wonderful weekend here at the Lilac Thicket.

Well the above is my real first finish this year I think! The fabric is what I found at JoAnn's and I really like it. It is cotton with little metallic flecks. The blue fabric will be a strip down the side of the finished stitching and the striped will be the back of the pillow. The gold ribbon will run down the seam in front to hide the stitching plus I will make a flat bow on the ribbon line. A team mate at work loved the red bric-a-brac but pointed out it will make it look country style and that is not what look I was going for. I think I will work on it this weekend. I will have to break out my iron...maybe I better rethink that! LOL!!!
I did get a very pretty ring in the mail yesterday. I ordered it from QVC. I tried to take a picture of it but they didn't come out to well. You can take a look at it at this link:

I have to leave the serenity of the lilac thicket in an hour to go to work so I can subsidize my opulent life. I do have one more dinner in the freezer and it will go with me to work today. After work I will hit the grocery to stock the freezer. I do so hate to navigate the crowds at the stores on the weekends. Until we meet again in this fragrant thicket of lilacs, I pray you are blessed.

Long overdue update
Our Farmer's Market will open in a week, I can't wait for fresh veggies. Who would have thought I would crave a salad! Amazing.
I have a new camera and a new laptop. Wow, I love life.
I am stitching. I finished a stitching a project which I will photograph and load later. Just a brief update. More to come. The above photo is what awaits me when I come home, loyal poohs waiting and waiting for Mommy to come home. The lilac picture that is my title bar, that is mine too, beautiful lilacs! Can you smell them? All my love from the Lilac Thicket.
